2010 Christmas card

So remember I blogged about stutterfly's 50 free cards. http://tinyurl.com/stutterfly-blog-post
Well, I ordered my free 50 cards today. This is what they will look like. I only had to pay for shipping. I never order cards anymore because it's too expensive, but I won't pass up getting 50 cards for $8.19 (shipping cost). I decided that it probably would be too late to send out a card with pictures off us in winter clothing (needing to wait for my friend to take the pictures and get them back to us.) So you get these cute summer pictures that my other friend Sara took for us.

Family pics and 50 free cards

Okay, so I saw a great deal on my friend's blog. You can get 50 free holiday cards from shutterfly if you blog about them (writing 150 words about previous experience with shutterfly or what you plan to do with one of their 2010 card designs). I myself have not used shutterfly yet but have heard from friends how fabulous it is. Hopefully this deal isn't too good to be true. This is the card that that I liked. I had a difficult time picking a favorite since there were so many choices of cards to pick from. (Oh, go here to sign up for it.) Here's a link to the different cards they have http://www.shutterfly.com/cards-stationery/christmas-photo-cards

So these are some of the family pictures my friend Sara took of my family back in July. I might use some of them for this project or if my friend Liz is able to take our pictures next week I might use those since they will be in winter clothing, but aren't we so cute!

Where Did Bob Go?

Howdy peoples,

I bet you’ve been wondering, hmm, were did bob go? If you are anything like me, if something doesn’t come up in your google reader it just doesn’t exist. So, you’re most likely not very concerned.

Well, I’m not writing jack this month because I’m writing too much. Make any sense? Of course not. If you know me well, you should know that I rarely make much sense at all. But there is a very good reason for this nonsense.

It’s November, which is National Novel Writing Month, affectionately known as NaNoWriMo, if you follow me on twitter, then you’ve seen my frantic tweets about the event already (on both accounts @speechbob and @aoirselvar), as well as updates on facebook (poor confused dave). This year I have decided to throw in my lot with those crazy people who are attempting to write at least 1667 words a day in order to meet the grand old goal of 50,000 words by Novemeber 30th.

It’s been fun, but everything else in my life has been put on hold. Including writing blog posts, playing video games, catching up on my DVRed shows, feeding my cat (did I mention that I recently got a cat?), personal hygiene… you name it.

But today is November 13th, and I’m at 28,000 words already! I’m more than half way there! Woot! But only problem is that my novel is more than half way done. I’ve actually set my goal for 70,000 words, which I hope to eep out a decent story.
My story? Well, it’s a fantasy story about a boy name Praxton (yes I stole this character from previous writings, but he’s nearly completely different. Like a different dimension Praxton, in a different world, etc). I’m actually pretty happy with what I’ve written so far, I’m worried about letting the masses actually read the book, but if really really want to read the book and help me revise it, email me at aoirselvar (at) gmail (dot) com. I won’t even send anything out until I’m done with draft one, after I let some people at least get rid of all the many typos.

Anyway, I have spent much too much time writing this blog post. And in order to save time so I can write more on my NaNoWriMo, I’m just going to put this post on the three blogs that I write on (Pathologically Speaking, Casual Huntering, The Batemans, even though the have nothing in common (that's not true, I write on all of them at varying intervals - especially on my family blog).

Everybody have a great day, and I’ll see you in December.

It's a....

If you didn't know already, we're going to have a BOY. Yes, we found out back on September 22. I have been a huge slacker in life in general. So now you know. The baby showed off his stuff the second she put the thing on me.

If you didn't know already...

Yes, we are pregnant with our 4th child. We are due on February 19th so I'm 14 and a half weeks along. And yes this was on purpose. I don't really want a gap bigger than 3 years.

another email

Wow, do I ever get the good scams being sent to my email address. Luckily it goes to my  junk mail address anyway (by the way, if you haven't set up an email just for that reason I highly suggest it). This one is interesting. I still wonder if people actually fall for this kind of crap. I mean seriously, are people that stupid??

Hello Dear,

How are you and everything happening around you? I am contacting you because I need someone who will help me establish an orphanage, and also do charity program with my life time savings as I will depart this wicked world due to oesophagus cancer.I want to help the poor kids as much as I can.I am Malaysian, widow and have no one around me to trust as they all want to loot my money and never care about my interest.presently I am at the hospital. the total amount for this project is 3.5million dollars and20% of the money will be yours and eighty percent will be for the project. We have never met before but after going through your profile I decided to contact you. I wish you are the honest and hardworking type am looking for. Please contact me on my personal email at: (scamyou@bigscam.com)

Okay, so I made up the their return email, but I didn't want to put this guys email out there. Oh man those poor kids. Really 20% of that money will be mine?? I'm glad that my profile showed that I'm a honest hardworking type.

seriously?

Do people seriously think that we'll fall for scam emails like this:

Dear Friend,
Good day,Im Princess Chantal S.Yonli, the only daughter of Late, Mr/Mrs Yonli S.Kamara, a licensed solid mineral (gold, diamond, cocoa marchant Importer&Exporter) during his days, resently before my father passed away,he called me privately that he had a deposit valued ($4.5 million)and a deposit of 350 kilos,(22 Carat) ALLUVIAL GOLD DUST which he intended to move abroad for investment on my behalf.
Please get back to me so that i can tell you why i contacted you in this regards. I will be waiting for your response.
Thanks,

Princess Chantal.

I end up reading these just because I find them highly amusing. I especially love it when the English is just plain bad. They often don't do their homework when translating their scams, which consequently a dead give away. This one is a little better. I love the mystery. "contact me so I can tell you why I contacted you" OOooooo. Maybe I'm the lost heir of mer Late Yonli Kamara. Maybe I was actually adopted and I never knew it. How did this ever get in my spam folder, its important stuff!!! lol

Crepes

I was so sad to find out that no longer can I find a European Connection in Utah. I don't know what came of them, but sometimes Lindy and I get craving crepes. This is the recipe that we have enjoyed. I think I have a vanilla one kicking around her as well. The make for awesome breakfast food on a weekend morning. But its awesomer if you have creme cheese and strawberries. I haven't tried them with caramel yet. I'll have to let you know.

So, here you have it, enjoy.

Crepes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and the eggs. Gradually add in the milk and water, stirring to combine. Add the salt and butter; beat until smooth.
  2. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each crepe. Tilt the pan with a circular motion so that the batter coats the surface evenly.
  3. Cook the crepe for about 2 minutes, until the bottom is light brown. Loosen with a spatula, turn and cook the other side. Serve hot.

St. Patrick's Day

We pretty much did nothing on St. Patrick's Day (other than me having Activity Days), but they sure look cute.

Valentines

So instead of getting me real flowers that die for Valentines, Bob got me edible ones. Thanks honey!

Savannah's B-day "Tea" Party

(This is the last birthday one I promise.)
Savannah's friend party was almost a month after her birthday, February 13th since I'm so organized and all (her b-day is Jan 17). We invited 2 little girls from the ward and her cousin. They played freeze dance to princess music. (They were super cute!)

I tried to have a "set the table for the tea party" relay race but that didn't work out so well. They ended up playing with the play food and tea set later.

I gave them all a feather boa, necklace, a bracelet and gloves. (From the Dollar Store.)

I couldn't find a whole tea set so they ate on paper plates and cups. If I was smart I would have borrowed my sister-in-law's set.

Yes, this is the birthday girl with her awful matted hair that her mother didn't bother doing. She was too worried about cleaning up the house.

Catch up: Logan's B-day party

(1 yr old b-day) The day after Logan's birthday (Saturday) we had our families over for cake, ice cream, and swimming at the Surf n' swim.

This is what happens when you cook the cake too late and it doesn't have time to cool down.

The evolution of Logan eating his cake.

"I ate too much sugar! I think I'm going to be sick!"

His new toys.

It was nap time and he had had a long day (if you didn't notice, Logan's sleeping).
