FHE: Noah's Ark & Blondies

So for family home evening the girls made blondies for our treat and let them bake while we were doing the lesson. They must have the magic touch because they were the best batch of blondies we've ever made.

Savannah had to snitch the chocolate chips. The chef always has to taste their product while making it.

We had a Noah's ark lesson. I found two of different kinds of animals, printed them out, and cut them out. We let the girls color them and bob drew the ark. Here they are putting the animals in the ark.

Random March Pictures

He's just so cute looking through those bars. I hope this isn't foreshadowing. j/k

This was right before Logan dived off the bed and I barely caught him.

St. Patrick's Day

Well, I had a difficult time finding some green for the girls to wear for St. Patrick's day. We went to the park for playgroup and the kids followed green leprechaun footprints to some green shamrock cookies he had left for them. Thanks Lisa!

Beans, Beans the Magical Fruit

Well Friday my friend Wendy came up and helped me can some of my beans. (Yes, I have a lot more than this!) And now my house is a disaster again. (I kept it clean for a whole week!) Anyway, the girls had a lot of fun helping me put the beans in the jars. And yes there were lots of beans on the floor because of this.

Sleeping Babies

First of all I have to tell you how cute the girls are with their baby dolls. Savannah got a stroller for her doll for her b-day and Sydney already had one. They will have races with their strollers, with the babies inside, all around the house. They even say, "Ready, set, GO!" Well today day they put their babies in the baby bed together and used one of their own blankets to cover them up.

Another thought about sleeping...Sydney has been throwing a fit during nap time lately (not that she would usually sleep during nap time anyway). So Bob was looking up stuff about naps for 3 year old and they said to call it quiet time and let them read books and play quite games. Well, just calling it a different name made a world of difference to Sydney. Yesterday she got in her bed and asked me to give her her books. She totally fell asleep. Again today she got right in bed with no screaming putting her books next to her in bed. We'll see if she sleeps today but at least she's spending some quite time alone. (Sometimes I just need a brake from her!)

A long Awaited Carebear picture

We were suppose to post this awhile ago, but we didn't (I'm still blaming dial-up - even if it was more laziness than anything). So, when we got this picture taken the Carebears were hidden (we knew that Sydney would be instantly obsessed). Sydney apparently has a 6th sense when it comes to Carebears. She found them anyway, but at least it makes a cute picture.

Well, we blessed Savannah, as mom and dad probably already told you. It's an awesome and humbling experience blessing your own children. I blessing our baby got our new ward’s attention. Like a neon light saying “HEY! WE’RE HERE! GIVE US A CALLING! MAKE US TALK IN CHURCH! ETC ETC!” So, we got a calling a week later, today, (teaching the 12 year olds) and we got asked to speak in church next week. Oh and we got hometeachers today too. Considering we’ve been in the ward for 3 months, that was a lot of attention for one Sunday. Apparently it took the membership clerk a little while to get our recorders.

Baby Blessing and More

By the way, it has been a joy taking our children to church. Sydney has been a lot of fun. Sydney wants to run around and make noise, Savannah is hungry and crying, we have lots of extra stuff to drag around like books, snacks, diapers, etc etc, fun. The other day Sydney decided to crow like a rooster as loud as she could during sacrament meeting. That was a joy. And another day in church Sydney was trying to say "eyes" but the first vowel come out as an /a/ as in back instead of /ah-i/. So, she was yelling out an expletive, but in an innocent manner. The people in sitting in front of me probably thought that we’ve been teaching Sydney how to swear.

I’m almost done with school. Just 2 more weeks of my externship, my defense in 3 weeks, and the SLP praxis test in 7 weeks. Then I get to start to work for the rest of my life. But it will be nice to be able to have a real income for once in my life (and before 30 at that – but not much before 30).

Cereal and Memories

For as long as I can remember, I've been hearing stories about the time I emptied several boxes of cereal on the floor and danced on them. I don't ever remember doing this, but its my parents favorite story to tell. I began to believe that nothing else happened in my whole childhood. My one and only defining moment was spent stomping on cereal.

Even as I have children of my own, I continue to hear about the infamous day. Then today, something happened that will bring a smile to my parents face and a cringe to my own. My daughter, Sydney, took off with a box of Cheerios and decided to empty it onto her bedroom floor. Instead of getting upset, I grabbed the camera. I'm not sure if that was a good idea cause my parents will enjoy rubbing it in. However, when I tell stories to my daughter I'll at least have evidence instead of hearsay.
